I think it has rained here every day for three weeks. The worst setback has been Meghan’s swim meets: one was cancelled, one they called right before she was about to swim her 3rd event, and yesterday they called it right before she was going to swim her first individual event. That was a huge bummer (but we had left our house at 8 a.m., and the meet was called about 12:45 and we weren’t even halfway through all the races, so I have to admit I was a little relieved!).
However, I am not complaining about the rain. Granted, many people in our area have lost their homes and even their lives with all the flooding (we are thankful to have only lost our trash cans). But I like the rain. I’ve always been something of an inside girl – I love to curl up with a good book (or someone who has read one) and listen to the rain. It relaxes me.
And I am very thankful that my kids have somewhat resigned themselves to the imposed time limits on TV and computer, and they have spent hours playing house and hospital and all sorts of imaginative games.
We have had a brief respite from the rain this morning, but the dark clouds are starting to roll in. I hear that every afternoon this week will be more of the same. So I’m going to get my kids down for their rest time (which is really more for my sake than theirs!) and find a good book as the rain pounds on our windows and roof. Aaahhh….
