We had a great first day of school yesterday! I’m so glad to have some sort of routine going…though we’re still trying to figure it out.
Meghan and Alyssa walked to school together, which was a really big deal for them. They are such great friends. They’re not in the same class this year, but they have PE and recess together, and of course, the girl bonding time walking to and from school.
Griffin went to school after lunch, and he was practically running into his class! He was so excited. His face lit up when he saw his teacher (who, I’ve heard, is FABULOUS!), and he went right in, found his name at his seat, hung up his backpack, sat down, and started coloring. I think he wondered why I was hanging around, so I think I was the first parent to leave! He had a really fun day.
I was a little worried, but Meghan and Alyssa found Griffin just fine after school, and the three of them walked home together…which is a huge treat for them, and a bigger treat for me since Nathan is still (supposedly) napping when school lets out.
Nathan starts his school next week on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and his teacher is a good friend of mine and one of the sweetest and funniest people I know. I’m so excited he will be in her class! So I’ll have two days a week with two kid-free hours per day.
One day down…179 to go!
