Is there a doctor in the house?

There are times when Michael is handy to have around (just kidding, honey!!). Like last night. Griffin was trying to get a cup out of the cabinet, and he fell and hit the counter. It wasn’t a big cut, but it was deep enough that I thought he could need a couple of stitches. Michael was on his way home, so I waited for him to look at it before rushing off to Urgent Care.

Sure enough, Doctor Wonderful was able to make steri-strips by cutting up a band-aid, and he patched it up…and saved us about $300! 🙂

The really funny part about this story is that this is the THIRD time in Griffin’s six years that he has had a cut on his face that could have required stitches, but Michael was able to bandage.

Now, the downside of having a doctor in the house is that he knows too much. Anytime one of the kids comes down with a mysterious illness, it’s a brain tumor. Thankfully we have a very good pediatrician who can rule out such maladies – and Michael has a nice little network of doctor friends who gladly give free consultations!

I guess all these perks make all of the middle-of-the-night phone calls and late nights somehow worth it…

  1. I love Michael’s homemade steri-strips. I remember other times they’ve been used on poor Griffin! It really is handy to have your own in-house doctor … and we appreciate the free consults too, although last time we called for medical advice, you were in Austin. Try to stick closer to home, would you? 🙂

what do you think?
