The Way to my Heart is Through Wire Shelving

I love my husband. I mean, I REALLY love my husband! Look what he did this weekend!!! I am kicking myself for not taking a “before” picture – but use your imagination and picture all of these things stacked up on the floor of our under-the-stairs closet, and you can get a pretty good idea of why I am POSITIVELY GIDDY about our new closet!!

We laughed and said that now we actually have a reasonable chance of survival during a tornado. This has always been our “safe place” – but before this weekend, I don’t think we could have found a place to sit if the occasion so arose.

One of the most amazing parts about all this is that Michael grew up in a house with a hammer and a screwdriver…and little else. His dad couldn’t make toast, much less any sort of construction project. So the fact that my husband can measure out this space, figure out what we need and the best arrangement, and then hang it all perfectly level is truly a miracle and a credit to his own ingenuity.

And check out this pantry! If you’ve ever been to my house, you’ve probably seen the stacks of food stuffed two and three deep on the shelves and the floor so overcrowded that we could barely shut the door. This pantry is simply not big enough for a family of five with a Costco membership.

But now it is!!!!

I am giddy. Organization makes me so happy.

  1. I love it!! When we moved into our current house, it had built-in shelving in the under-the-stairs storage closet and I love it too. It just adds so much more space! Your pantry looks awesome … very Sleeping with the Enemy. 🙂

  2. That looks great! I love finding new ways to organize. Speaking of, I’ve been meaning to tell you about a magazine I picked up at Sam’s, called Storage and Organization by Southern Living. It has some wonderful ideas that might be helpful in planning your new house. Fun stuff! Holly
