Not part of the plan

Oh my. Oh my my my my. Saturday cannot come soon enough.

The good news is that I slept much better last night. Thank you for your emails and prayers. I still had a hard time falling asleep, but I slept great once I actually dozed off. Woke up with lots of energy to face the day. Good thing.

I spent the afternoon tearing down the artwork in the kindergarten hallway and pulling staples out of the wall. Meghan was actually down there with me – she sometimes comes to help the kindergarten teachers when she’s done with her work – and we both complained about cuts and scratches from errant staples poking out of the wall.

Oh, the irony.

I left the school at 2:00 to pick up Nathan from preschool, and we went home for a snack and a nap. The phone rang as soon as we walked in the door, and it was my friend, Michelle. We chatted for just a few minutes while I was getting Nathan’s snack. Until he pushed his chair back from the table, fell backwards, and hit his head on the windowsill.

Ouch.

Who knew so much blood was located in the scalp?

Long story short, I took Nathan to Urgent Care while Michelle picked up Meghan and Griffin from school (THANK YOU AGAIN, MICHELLE!!!). He had a 1 inch gash on the back of his head which required 3 staples. There must be some kind of joke or profound statement in there somewhere about today and staples.

He’s fine – the screaming and the blood stopped once we were in the car, and he was chatting it up with the nurses while we were there. (Obviously no concussion or brain damage!)

But I just have to ask, “SERIOUSLY?!? NOW???”

I need a good song to sing about Saturdays.

  1. oh my. I would just call it quits.Um, no songs about Saturday, but “Since you’ve been gone” comes to mind. But the rest doesn’t fit.Rainy days and Mondays? Its Friday and I’m in love?8 days a week? That’s all I got.

  2. I like the suggestions above! All I can think of is Elton John’s Saturday Night’s Alright for Fighting … and I hope that won’t be the case. :)Poor Nathan, poor Mommy. Where was Michael with his infamous homemade steri-strips? 🙂 Hope the rest of the week is very calm, quiet, boring even.

what do you think?
