I had this thought this morning:
Motherhood involves a painful dichotomy of holding our children close and letting them go. The act of childbirth is only the first stage in the excruciating process of separating ourselves from our children. Every fiber in our exhausted bodies wants to hold them close to us and protect them, and sometimes the love we have for our children physically hurts. But it is for their good and ours that we slowly release them and allow them to be all that God has designed and destined them to be.
