Love, Logic, Michigan & Florida

I know this is yesterday’s news, but I had some thoughts about this whole debacle with the Michigan and Florida primary elections. Keep in mind that I am a registered independent who has historically voted Republican, but I am so sick of what has been going on in our country that my support is swinging to the left.

So let me get this straight:

The DNC said that any state who held their primary before a certain date would be punished. Michigan and Florida decided to go ahead and hold their primary before said date. Consequently, their delegates were not counted. They decided to whine and protest about the injustice of it all, which led to this big committee meeting and the decision to count each vote as half. More whining and protestation.

If this were my house, where natural consequences reign supreme, I would have said, “Man, that’s a bummer. This rule was set in place, and you chose to break it. I guess that means you’re going to have to deal with the consequences of that choice.”

If only mothers ran the world…
