"Camp"

I guess you can call it that. Like I said earlier, bunk beds and unairconditioned cabins are going to be a HUGE letdown after last week!

This is what she did:

This is where she was:

Tough life, huh?

But all kidding aside, it was a great week, and I think exactly what she needed after such a rough school year. Her teacher nominated her for this program last year, and with some hesitation, we decided to go ahead and send her. It turned out to be the best thing she’s done in a long time.

In addition to “leadership training” (which Meghan found “boring”), she spent the week with other top students unraveling the Mystery of the Missing Mascot by learning about different CSI techniques – such as hair and fiber analysis, chemical analysis, handwriting analysis, body impressions (like calculating how tall and heavy the suspect was by measuring a footprint), and soil analysis. Not quite lanyards and macaroni picture frames!

Before we went home on Thursday, the group presented their case to their parents:

Here’s Meghan with her roommate, Mia. They had such a great time together! Having a roommate was the one thing Meghan was most nervous about before going to camp, but it turned out to be such a fun thing for both of them. Having a great roommate definitely warded off the homesickness goblin. They’d stay up late giggling and playing cards on their white down comforter-ed Heavenly Beds.

Meghan and her CSI advisor, Mr. Noel:

I doubt we’ll send her back next year because it wasn’t cheap, but for this summer, it was worth every penny. Maybe next year, we’ll go for bunk beds and no air conditioning.
