Can I get a WAH-HOO?

Three things I love today:

1. My husband
2. Holly
3. Priceline

Let’s break it down one at a time.

1. My husband is amazing for many reasons, not the least of which is the fact that he is not afraid of our children. Couple that with his mad love for me and his complete understanding of how Mama occasionally needs a break – well, you have one hot husband. Four years ago, when our kids were 6, 4 & 1, he looked into my glazed-over eyes and smoothed my frazzled hair and said, “Why don’t you call Holly and plan a girls’ weekend? I’ll take care of the kids.”

I just love him.

2. Holly was my pot-luck freshman roommate at Baylor. She has since graduated to legal guardian of my children should the need arise. Holly is a saint because she is still my friend 17 years after I would pop her toes, force-feed her Lemon Coolers, and put her bra on the head of our other roommate’s large teddy bear and hang him from the ceiling. (Oh, those were fun days!) She makes me laugh like no one else…and Holly loves to shop, which makes me love her even more. We both look forward to our weekend together every year. We meet on a Friday night, eat a leisurely, uninteruppted dinner, go see a chick-flick, sleep late, then hit the nearest outlet mall for a full day of shopping. (And let me tell ya, Holly knows how to outlet shop! The girl could write a book.) Then more eating, more chick flicks (usually a PPV movie in our room) more late sleeping, and more uninteruppted eating. Then we start the countdown to the next year. It is greatness.

3. Priceline totally rocks. Every year about this time, Holly and I go to their website to “name your own price” on a hotel room for our girl’s weekend.

Y’all. Yesterday we reserved a room at the oh-so-luxurious Renaissance Hotel for EIGHTY-FIVE DOLLARS.

Now you probably know two things about me. 1) I am extremely germaphobic. 2) I love a snuggly, comfortable, luxurious bed. So what would I love more than a bed at the Renaissance with white down comforters, eight pillows on each bed and a VERY CLEAN WHITE DUVET COVER? Not to mention the SHOPPING! And the EATING! And the LAUGHING!

I’m in such a good mood.

  1. Awww, thanks, Jenn! Oh and I’ll be sending my therapy bill to you next time. ha! I’m so excited about our upcoming trip (and the Renaissance for $85…really, just $85?!?). I may be queen of the outlets, but you put me to shame on Priceline. You are precious to me and I can’t wait to see you, eat cheesecake, shop for bargains and catch up!

  2. I relate to your post! My recent get-away was at the Biltmore Mansion in Asheville, NC. I didn’t get to spend the night anywhere, but the walk through the gardens and the lovely (and relaxing) lunch at the winery was awesome.

what do you think?
